Normal (promiscuous) mode instead of loopback: programs its own init block, PADR and LADRF, arms eight RX descriptors, transmits six 60-byte broadcast frames (ethertype 0x88B5) through its own TX ring with TDMD kicks, then counts received frames and records the last source MAC and ethertype. Everything is the payload's own code -- CSR accesses, init block, rings, descriptors, DMA results. Panel: TXD (transmitted), RXF (received), ET (last ethertype), MAC (last source), CSR0, REST.
