notificationhackery

Note: No, it doesn't hack your notifications, just tests them

Utilizes tray icon on Windows and GTK libnotify on Linux.

To build you need to have /usr/share/java/gtk.jar on your classpath (under Arch Linux, install java-gnome, undex Windows, copy it somewhere and modify build.gradle)
