82a12023cd I thought there was a bug in frame ordering, but it turns out that it works
fine. Anyway, here's a new debug construct (%frame) and a bunch of new
regression tests.

- fpd.y, fpd.l, README: added new directive %frame to link frames also to other
frames than the current one (like in the GUI)
- gui_tool.h, gui_tool.c: export is_parent_of
- test/frame_ref: regression tests to ensure that frame order remains valid,
even if we reference late from early frames

1dda2ac2ae When creating an object in the GUI, its label wasn't initialized. Added
infrastructure for hole objects. (Postscript and KiCad output are still
missing, and so does sanity checking.)

- gui_tool.c (new_obj_unconnected): set obj->name to NULL
- added hole objects to tool bar, all the various GUI routines, the .fpd
  parser, and the .fpd dumper

af0d2c78cb Removing the old interface for adding frame refrences. Also updated the
documentation.

- Makefile, icons/frame_locked.fig, icons/frame_ready.fig: removed the icons of
  locked and ready frames
- gui_tool.c: removed the frame tool and all the image handling associated with
it, leaving only the bits in place that are used by frame to canvas dragging
- gui_tool.h, gui_tool.c (tool_frame_update, tool_frame_deleted), gui_canvas.c
  (key_press_event), gui_frame.c (popup_del_frame, select_frame): removed
  the notifications of frame changes
- gui.html: removed the old clumsy frame reference procedure and described the
  new way

0b241a14fe Dragging a frame into the canvas now works. It's built on top of the frame
tool, with all the old code still around, so the code paths are a bit obscure.

- gui_frame_drag.c: use GTK_DEST_DEFAULT_MOTION instead of
  GTK_DEST_DEFAULT_HIGHLIGHT
- gui_frame_drag.c: put meat on the frame and canvas drag and drop skeleton
- gui_frame_drag.c (setup_frame_drag, setup_canvas_drag): use GDK_ACTION_COPY
  instead of GDK_ACTION_PRIVATE
- gui_frame_drag.h, gui_frame_drag.c (is_dragging_anything): new helper
function to check if we're dragging anything, without specifying what
- gui_canvas.h, gui_canvas.c: added thin interface layer between gui_frame.c
  and gui_tool.c
- gui_canvas.c (enter_notify_event, leave_notify_event): return FALSE so that
other widgets can get the events, too
- gui_tool.h, gui_tool.c (tool_hover): return whether we found anything to
  hover on
- gui_tool.h, gui_tool.c: added interface for dropping a frame on the canvas

661398c20a Yet more tooltips. This time, for all non-editable fields in the status area.
- gui_status.h: use macro to generate status_set_* delarations, just as we use
  a macro for their definitions
- added tooltips for all non-editable fields in the status area

1cd5e6da94 Canvas tooltips now work. The problem was that expose events set the paint
region to only cover the newly exposed area. This prevented the general
redrawing from clearing areas that still contained hovering and dragging
items. However, the paint region has no effect on reading from the drawable.
Thus when rebuilding the hover and drag stack, the still tainted image was
stored.

This issue could be solved by either introducing a separate mode where the
stack is redrawn instead of rebuilt, or by turning off double-buffering.
The former would complicate the already fickle logic of overlays, and not
having double-buffering doesn't seem to cause any ill effects.

- gui_canvas.c (make_canvas): disable double-buffering of canvas so that the
paint region is not restricted in expose events
- gui_tool.c (tool_tip): enabled canvas tooltips

14f21c0aee More work on tooltips and a build fix.
- Makefile: use PID in temporary file name in PPM to XPM conversion, so that we
don't get mysterious failures in parallel builds
- gui_util.c (debug_save_pixbuf, debug_save_widget): helper functions to debug
  pixbuf and widget content
- Makefile: added target "montage" to show the images recorded with
  debug_save_pixbuf and debug_save_widget
- gui_over.c: when debugging, record the saves pixbuf in files
- gui_tool.c (tool_hover): removed unnecessary initialization
- added infrastructure for tooltips on the canvas (doesn't work properly yet)

aca443f566 Make the icon for the currently selected instance transparent so that it better
blends in and won't be mistaken for a button.

- Makefile: generate icon XPMs with transparent background
- gui_util.c (make_image): set transparency color to white
- gui_util.c (make_transparent_image): new function to return a transparent
  image created from an XPM
- gui_tool.c (get_icon_by_inst): make the returned image transparent instead of
  opaque
- icons/vec.fig, icons/arc.fig, icons/line.fig, icons/rect.fig, icons/circ.fig:
darkened to increase contrast on grey background

56371f440a Creation of a rounded pad could crash fped.
- gui_tool.c (end_new_rpad): didn't initialize obj->u.pad.type, which could
  cause pad_type_to_layers to abort
- postscript.c: added experimental code for full-page printing (doesn't work
  properly yet)

2dffbfeaa9 When moving a vector, the list order could get confused, resulting in a
segfault, failure to update the screen content, and assigning of invalid
references.

- gui_tools.c: removed duplicate (harmless) line
- inst.c: when moving a vector to a new base, we may have to reorder the list
so that the assertion vectors always follow their bases is still maintained.

192ec568d8 - inst.c: cleanup_inst leaked memory when using special pads
- changed pad classification in instances from bare/other to copper/special
- moved LAYER_* definitions from layer.h to layer.c
- after instantiation, we perform sanity checks on pads and remove layers from
coppery pads that are handled by a special layer
- fped.y: the line number in objects was never set
- overlap.c: fixed overlap calculations
- gui_tool.c: end_new_pad didn't initialize the pad type

c37648e2a5 Made interactive selection of measurement points a little less inefficient.
- vectors now have their own struct in inst.u and don't share inst.u.rect.end
- when selecting points for measurements, use the highlighting we've already
done and don't redo all the O(n^3) searching for each mouse pointer movement
- removed debug code that printed what new measurements are like. We can now
use the code view for that.

5a2eb77629 Made life in mil-land a little less painful.
- .fpd file format: new directive "unit" to set the default unit
- new selection was too aggressive - make it only rearrange settings if we also
  fail the second vector search
- gui_draw_pad_text: calculation of height vs. width lost too much precision,
causing pad text to be rotated arbitrarily
- drag_new_vec: display distance in mil if unit is mil
- end_new_raw_vec: store distance in mil if unit is mil
- gridify: use a 10 mil grid if unit is mil
- ps_hline: corrected gsave/grestore mismatch
- Makefile: made "all" a prerequisite of "install"
- Postscript output now mentions the default unit (if set)
- ps_package: height and width were swapped, oopsie !

18be341c2d Bug-fixing ...

- connect_obj: didn't update the object's frame pointer, deeply confusing
  deletion

a44530f621 Selection now tries to help us not to get lost.
- postscript.c: started adding generation of object-level frames (on-going)
- gui_canvas.c: moved call to inst_deselect into inst_select, so that
inst_select can keep track of the previous selection (if any)
- inst_select: if clicking on the location of the previous selection, try to
  select the next matching item
- inst_select: if we can't find an active item, try to see if we can get
something by changing active references or - if all else fails - by
  activating a different frame
- end_new_frame: reset the tool after placing the frame

94f4534494 - measurement offsets can now use variables. We evaluate the offset during
instantiation and create a partially formed instance. During measurement
  instantiation, we complete that instance.
- leak.supp: finally figured out how to write a valgrind suppression file
- fped.c: we don't need the FPED_NO_GUI kludge anymore
- fped.c: moved gui_cleanup_style to gui_main
- dereference icons (seems that this doesn't deallocate everything, though)

37b52f23fe Finally found a nice way to draw arcs in the GUI.
- we freed a package's samples list after recalculating the number of samples,
which caused a crash after adding a new vector. We now record the original
list length in the package structure.
- when dragging a circle, offer the end point first, so that it becomes an arc

de044ca61f We can now generate part families.
- README: added build prerequisites
- "part name" is now more correctly called "package name"
- changed keyword "part" to "package"
- removed inst_debug and struct inst_ops.debug functions - never really used
  them anyway
- we can now generate multiple packages from a single file

- when instantiation fails, the corresponding vector, object, or loop is now
marked red in the variables/items list.

9c68c0de34 - File>Save now saves to a file if a second name is given on the command line,
to stdout if not
- there's no reason anymore to disallow editing the offset in new-style
  measurements
- struct inst_ops is no longer opaque, so we can avoid adding even more silly
little access functions and open-code straightforward callbacks
- (re)stuctured hover/click/drag logic in gui_tool.c
- added optional debugging output to gui_canvas.c
- don't let a vector's base be dragged onto the vector's own end or onto one
  of its children
- measurements can now be properly changed by dragging

75d9780131 - band-aid: make canvas grab focus on click and scroll, so that it's easy to
get it back when we lose it
- improved heuristics for measx/measy: instead of looking for "next" or "max"
on secondary coordinate, pick the one that's closest. I.e., if there's a
  chance to just connect with x' = 0 or y' = 0, do it.
- mouse wheel on loop value now selects next/previous value
- corrected proximity calculation for measurements
- vec/frame/meas toggle now deselects, so that we don't accidently leave a
  supposedly hidden item selected

- "measxy" is now called "meas"
- updated examples to use new-style measurements

851c82af6f - simplified tool_button and moved it from gui_tool.c to into gui_util.c
- moved make_image from gui_tool.c to into gui_util.c as well
- generalized set_frame_image and moved it to gui_util.c as set_image
- tool_button_press_event didn't check which button was pressed
- added buttons to switch visibility of frames, vectors, and measurements
- when creating a measurement through the GUI, don't invert if both points are
minima (otherwise, one could never get the text point the other way)
